Advocacy days!

Since our founding, the Women's March Foundation has been committed to creating lasting change beyond just marching. As we enter a challenging new chapter in U.S. politics, we're more dedicated than ever to defending women's rights at every level—local, state, and national—especially a post Roe world.

We invite you to join our Advocacy Days newsletter, where you'll receive action alerts to make a difference, from sending letters to Congress to supporting our Feminist Street Initiative. Together, we can stand up for the rights and future we all deserve.

Urgent Action Alert:

Oppose H.R. 9495

H.R. 9495 (the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act) is a deceptive and dangerous bill that threatens to undermine the First Amendment by giving unprecedented power to any president to silence non-profits that criticize their administration.

If passed, this bill would allow future presidents, like Donald Trump, to label any non-profit organization as a “terrorist-supporting organization” and strip them of their tax-exempt status—without requiring evidence. This could cripple organizations like the Women’s March Foundation and thousands of other groups that advocate for justice, equality, and democracy.

H.R. 9495 narrowly failed to pass in the House last week, as it required a two-thirds majority for approval. However, 256 representatives, including 52 Democrats, voted in favor of the bill. It is scheduled for another vote on November 21st, as right-wing House leadership aims to gather enough support for its passage.

Take action:

Contact your representative and demand they VOTE NO to protect advocacy groups and uphold the First Amendment!

  • Call using the U.S. House switchboard operator: (202) 224-3121.

  • To locate your representative visit: www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative

Use the Following Message:

  • “I live in your district and I urge you to vote NO on H.R. 9495 (the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act). If passed, this bill would dangerously expand presidential powers, enabling any administration to silence organizations critical of their policies. It is an attack on the First Amendment and must not become law.”
